Mexican Mexican Whiteboy Seminar
In the book Mexican Whiteboy, Danny and Uno both have to wear different masks. Danny’s mask is a quiet boy who is confused about how he identifies. He doesn't know If he's supposed to be mexican or white. He knows that his mom is white but also that his dad is mexican. Danny’s race is also misunderstood in school. He is treated different because of his race and the fact that he can't speak spanish. On the other hand, Uno’s mask is a black boy who speaks a lot of slang. Uno feels like he can mistreat Danny and make him feel bad about himself. In the beginning of the book, Uno beat up Danny and gave him stitches because he accidentally broke manny’s nose. These are the two masks that Uno and Danny that show their identity categories.
The concepts of socialization that explain the book are represented in many ways. One way socialization is represented in the book is when Uno’s father yells at him from the bleachers at a little league baseball game for breaking his nose. Uno was lying on the ground with blood draining on two his shirt. From the bleachers his father was yelling, “get your ass up, no son of mine gonna sit down and cry”. Uno was shocked to hear his dad yell like this. Even though Uno was badly hurt with a broken nose he got up and tried to continue. One of the coaches stepped in and told Uno that he needed a hospital. Even that did not stop his dad from yelling. This is just one of the many ways socialization is represented in the book.
An insight I got from reading this book is that the economical class can differ so much just by the type of family. I’ve learned that race can have a big impact on how you are viewed. That is why Danny is treated how he is and why he is so confused on how he identifies. These are the insights I have gained from reading the book Mexican Whiteboy.

Canada has had many interactions with North Korea, but lately their interactions have been decreasing, most likely due to North Korea's bombs and unstable society. North Korea is a country that has many nuclear weapons. The reason for these weapons is not well understood. But there is one thing that is sure, they could easily cause devastation with these weapons. My country, Canada, has interacted with North Korea over the years. However, Canada's perspective has grown negative towards Canada, with 7% of Canadians expressing a positive view while 79% express a negative view. With how other countries have reacted towards North Korea, it gives me good reasons why I should be against their weapons.
During the Korean War, Canadians fought, bled and died to return stability to this unstabilized society. Canada participated on the side of the United States in the Korean War with 26,000 Canadians participating in the war. After they tried and failed to return stability to this country, they are no longer making interactions with North Korea. They have stopped making interactions because of North Korea's bomb threats. Canada does not support North Korea's military, and they say other countries should avoid them. Canadians did not interfere with this war to make North Korea worse, they did it to make them a more stable society, But for some reason North Korea took it the wrong way. In conclusion, North Korea is a country that should not be messed with.
Model UN Mid Project Reflections
1. The most challenging part of this project was keeping track of all the assignments that we had to do.
2. I have overcome the challenge of researching skills and learning how to research challenging information.
3. I am most proud of the fact that I was able to keep up with the papers, even though it was hard.
4. What does this quote mean? "Complacency is where genius goes to die." Complacency means being smug about your abilities or thinking that you are smart enough already. This quote means that if you don't think you have anything left to learn, you will never get any smarter.

Project Reflection

During the model UN project, we have engaged with the Israel - Palestine conflict, North Korea crisis, and how the UN could help stop them. The point of this project was to learn how the UN works and what they can do to stop these problems. Before we started this project, I hardly even knew what the UN was, now I am confident I could explain what the UN is to someone who had less Knowledge on it. Now that I have completed this project, I now can use what I learned in the future to help me become more successful throughout college and career.
One thing I learned a lot about but want to learn more about is why North Korea is in such poor condition compared to South Korea. It has always made me wonder why North Korea can't seem to lead normal lives and are always having governmental issues. In fact, it is said that North Koreans have been brainwashed by their leader Kim Jong Un, to believe certain political events, and to hate America. On the other hand, North Koreans are leading a well lifestyle without any of the issues of South Korea, even though they are all the same race. This is why I want to learn more about the history of North Korea.
The biggest part of this project, was the United Nations and how it works. The whole point of the UN is to help eliminate problems with countries governments, or anything that needs support. The UN has groups of people called peacekeepers. The peacekeepers were who wrote peace treaties, and came up with solutions to issues. However, the UN is not always successful. In fact they have not been able to stop the Israel Palestine conflict. many of their resolutions have failed in the past. What makes the UN good is that they won't give up, and I am confident they will succeed.
